Our Range of Ultrasonic Testing Equipment
Within the scope of ultrasonic testing equipment, Cygnus Instruments are specialists. Our innovation has progressed the technology to new heights and puts us head and shoulders above the rest. Our methods have become the industry standard in recognition of their superior attributes and accuracy. We produce a multitude of different devices, each with unique traits and uses. Whether you’re after a simple, but incredibly accurate and versatile, device for ultrasonic thickness measurements or you need an ultrasonic hatch cover testers, we’ve got more than one option that will be more than suitable. No matter your requirements, Cygnus Instruments can help. The products we offer are broken into three categories, each with a number of options that will be able to tackle any type of ultrasonic thickness measurement. The categories are:
- Ultrasonic Thickness Gauges
- Ultrasonic Hatch Cover Tester
- Cygnus FMD System
Contained within our range of products for these groups, we’ve developed a range of variations. These variations range from the simple to the comprehensive, some of which can take on the role of almost any ultrasonic thickness equipment.
Ultrasonic Thickness Gauges
This is our most complete range of products, starting with the Cygnus 1 Intrinsically Safe. This piece of ultrasonic testing equipment is our most basic option. It’s perfect for those who only need simple and accurate measurements with little calibration and relatively few options. It’s designed for ease of use and features shock-proof housing, a rugged and durable design, and three options for probe attachments. The device possesses self-verification to ensure accurate results every time using our innovated multiple echo measurement method. This eliminates the coating thickness so that you’re getting an accurate measurement for the thickness of the metal only. Thanks to this accuracy, the Cygnus multiple echo range allows the exactly accurate tracking of corrosion and metal wastage. Our ultrasonic thickness gauges are programmed and calibrated to be accurate to within ±0.1mm or 0.1% of the thickness, whichever is greater. This accuracy is unparalleled in the industry, setting our ultrasonic testing meter apart from the rest. The Cygnus 1 is only 1040g, including the batteries, so you’ll barely notice it’s there until you’re using it. At the top end of the scale, the Cygnus 6 Plus Pro offers a vast array of options, including multiple data export methods, data compiling, 5000 data points (measurements) per record, and designed with hardiness and durability like our entire range. It features a removable SD card, which makes data transfer between platforms incredibly easy. Unlike the Cygnus 1, the Cygnus 6 Plus Pro can use double and single crystal probes. This allows the use of multiple echo, single echo and echo-echo measuring methods. We also have options for underwater ultrasonic thickness gauge, such as the Cygnus Dive or our ROV mountable options. Our full range comes with a slew of optional accessories for enhanced usage characteristics and versatility. See our full range of Ultrasonic Thickness Gauges here.
Ultrasonic Hatch Cover Tester
The Cygnus Hatch Sure is the pinnacle of ultrasonic hatch cover leak detection. As with our surface thickness gauges, it’s constructed to be shock-proof and durable. Its primary function is to detect water and weather tightness of cargo hatches, covers and doors. The process is quick and easy, and the Cygnus Hatch Sure will display the OH (Open Hatch) value and the sound level in decibels, which are displayed simultaneously. To avoid inaccuracy during usage in enclosed spaces, the device has six selectable power settings. This is to prevent reverberation from the other nearby surfaces, which may throw off the readings. Although the process is rapid, it is also thorough and accurate. It’s able to operate within a range of temperatures between -10 and 50 degrees centigrade, making it perfect for almost any situation. Cygnus FMD System
Using our experience creating industry-leading ultrasonic testing equipment, we’ve created the Cygnus FMD System. Using a complex system of intelligent software and advanced electronics, we are able to accurately detect flooded members. It will accurately determine if a space beyond the surface is dry or flooded and will report the result on the instruments digital screen. The unit is rated to 300msw (meters sea water, or 30 bar) and can be supplied with a 350m umbilical cord if required. All results are logged for offline analysis, and reports can be generated and exported in either PDF or Excel compatible formats. The reliability of the device is unprecedented, using advanced peak detection algorithms and advanced signal processing. For full information, please see the Ultrasonic FMD System.
