Cygnus FMD System for Diver

Ultrasonic Flooded Member Detection System

Used by divers to detect water ingress in subsea structural members through the use of ultrasound. This flooded member inspection system has an easy-to-use interface proving a clear DRY or FLOODED result.

Following deployment, the Cygnus FMD system runs a test using the FMD reporting software at the surface. This test shows a simple ‘DRY’ (Green) or ‘FLOODED’ (Red) result, with A-scans for further verification. The results are then logged for analysis or reporting as a PDF and Excel file.

  • Easy to Use: Responsive probe handling solution that self-aligns with the surface, ensuring that correct contact with the member has been made, regardless of the angle or direction of approach. Then a simple ‘DRY’ or ‘FLOODED’ result is displayed and logged on the reporting software at the surface.
  • Cost Effective: The clever and failsafe design makes this system easy to learn and can be used by owners and operators with varying experience so that there is no need for expensive external contractors.
  • Rugged: Designed to the highest standards and supplied with a 3-year warranty.
  • Reliable: The purpose-designed algorithm simultaneously uses: advanced signal processing; an advanced peak detection algorithm and; low distortion / low noise data acquisition to ensure highest level of PoD (Probability of Detection) to eliminate false readings. This failsafe design also means measurements are only taken when the contact sensor detects correct probe contact and alignment. Any loss of contact is shown on the reporting software at surface. There is also a ’System Test’ function that allows users to carry out tests prior to deployment
  • Versatile: The compact design of the probe solution means tests can be done on hard-to-reach areas such as K nodes, where other inspection methods are unable to perform.
