Cygnus Managing Director, Lulu Crosthwaite-Eyre, recently attended Aberdeen’s Subsea Expo. Here is her short review from the event, along with some great photos she took.
2 days in Aberdeen are always well-spent, but especially so when Subsea Expo is on! A fascinating melting pot of exhibitors, speakers and visitors alike – and, particularly so, being on the aisle-side looking in. Cygnus didn’t take a stand this year (the right call for us), but to visit was always going to be a must.
It was a useful opportunity to pre-arrange meetings with current collaborators across the industry and a good way to take the current “temperature” of the market. The upbeat messages consistently confirmed that the downturn had ended last year, but observations relayed that its resultant efficiency measures were here to stay. We’re hearing this the world over, across Oil & Gas, and not just in the subsea sector. Interesting times.
I was only at Subsea Expo for one hugely productive and enjoyable day. I hope the rest of the show went well for all involved – there was a great line up of talks and the stands were looking exceptional. Ashtead’s prize draw was very tempting and the Lego model ROV support vessel on the Kawasaki stand was brilliant… especially amusing since more than one person claimed to have single-handedly build it! – excellent teamwork, I’m sure!
